Why Makaal?

Published by Makaal Group

We live in a time of extraordinary complexity. Despite incredible technological advancements and massive global wealth, too many people still struggle with basic needs: clean water, nourishing food, reliable healthcare, meaningful work, and mental wellbeing. Climate change accelerates, social divisions deepen, and trust in our institutions continues to erode.

The natural question arises: Why is this the case?

The answer is layered. But when we look deeper, a powerful insight emerges:

We can do better. Much better.

Growing up near New York City, I was immersed in a culture of ambition—“if you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.” That energy taught me resilience. But it also revealed the limits of success defined solely by profit or prestige. In a world facing systemic challenges, we must expand our definition of success.

That’s where Makaal begins.

Makaal is built on creativity, founding principles, and people. At its core is the belief that investment and entrepreneurship can serve people and the planet—and that shareholders can benefit from both good karmas and good returns. We develop businesses with significant upside potential for financial growth and meaningful impact. Our goal is not just to generate returns, but to build resilience—economic, social, and ecological.

We ask different questions:

  • What will be the impact of this business in 500 years?

  • Who will benefit from this opportunity?

  • Does it support long-term, sustainable prosperity?

Makaal means “Great Timeless Nourishment,” derived from the terms Ma – Maha – Akaal—Great Timeless Mother. It reflects our view that nourishment must be the foundation of enterprise: nourishing minds, bodies, communities, and this Earth. Not just today, but for generations to come.

Our team seeks out innovators—across health and wellness, clean tech, education, and beyond—and helps bring their work to life in ways that scale with integrity.

We’re not alone. There is a growing movement of regenerative finance, conscious business, and purpose-driven leadership. But we believe Makaal offers something uniquely needed:

  • A values-first investment approach

  • An integrated view of spiritual, societal, and financial capital

  • A team rooted in service, integrity, and execution

This is not charity. Nor is it business as usual. This is a new model—one that dares to believe in a future worth having.

In the coming weeks, I’ll be sharing more about the ventures we’re investing in—initiatives tackling iron deficiency, supporting maternal health, harnessing AI for good, and creating systems change that lasts.

We welcome partners, collaborators, allies, and co-creators.

Let’s build together.
